In The Queue – The First Chapter

‘The Queue’  What does that even mean?

This is actually an easy concept to digest because we have all been in queues at one point or the other. Maybe at a poll booth or the ticket kiosk for the movies, a drive-thru shop and a host of other examples.  I want to give a few definitions for the word ‘queue’ even though you guys know already. I’ll give a couple;

A line or sequence of people or vehicles awaiting their turn to be attended to or to proceed.

A line or sequence. This tells me that queues ought to be orderly and sequential. Life in most cases is very sequential. We’ll find out more.

In computer science, the word ‘queue’ has a similar meaning. In fact, I personally love the definition.

It is a type of data structure in which elements or tasks are attended to in the order in which they are added. It uses the ‘FIFO’ style – First-in, First out.

I apologize if you are not a computer scientist or if you think the definition sounds like gibberish, it’s all jargon.  Don’t think so much about it, we’ll go through it together! And I even think the definitions are enough.

These are literal definitions but we are here to give a ‘real’ meaning in terms of life in general.

Life in general, can be likened to a queue. It is a long line that comprises everyone that can breathe- everyone that is born of a woman. Everyone- the elderly, the youths and infants all belong to that queue.

Every new birth is an addition to that line. Our world has an estimated population of 7.6 billion people, so it’s a really long line! From the biblical Adam to the child born the very second you read this line, constitute the queue.

Career can be a queue. So many levels of career are lined up in hierarchy. Every aspect that life touches forms a part of it’s queue. The earlier we recognize that life is in stages, the easier it would be to progress through it. Life is made up of principles and the fact that life itself is in stages is one of them.

There are stages in every area of our lives, but for the purpose of where we are heading to, let us start from the immediate area- Physical.

I decided to design life physically in three stages. I call it the D-M-D pattern.

    The Dawn stage    (Protect your potential–The seed stage)

Life is shaped like a parabola. The dawn stage is the stage of infancy. At this stage you are just beginning life. The way is still not clear and you may not be able to survive on your own. At this stage, you still play about anything and everything. You will need to be guided, nurtured, taught, molded, broken chiseled and chastised ( on’t mind the numerous words) because you are still in your formative years. You are malleable and ductile. You are still an unmined land, an unprocessed bar of gold, an unused slate or a barrel of crude oil. You are like a large sheet of paper, with nothing written on it. YOU HAVE GOT POTENTIAL!!!

Potential (The mustard code)

Potential can be defined ;

  • Having or showing the capacity to develop into something in the future.
  • Latent qualities or abilities that may be developed and lead to future success or usefulness.

Personally, I define it as ‘POTENTial’ Notice the emphasis on ‘POTENT’. It is the ability to become potent, powerful and useful. Someone said something once;

” You can count the number of seeds in an apple, but you can never count the number of apples in a seed while it is still in the  seed form”

Catherine Pulsifer wrote;

“If you could see the potential within you it would amaze you to see all that you are capable of being.”

I like the definition provided by Physics (Not that I like the subject #LOL).

Potential or Potential energy is the energy possessed by a body at rest or by a body by virtue of its nature and position.

By virtue of this definition, we can agree that ‘Your productivity is reliant on your location/position’

It doesn’t matter how small you think you are, you are capable of great, great things. That brings us to the MUSTARD CODE.
